Analysis of online social networks as a tool for disseminating content published on websites: a study of CoDAF outreach project

This work aims to identify elements for analyzing the effectiveness of dissemination strategies of a science outreach project website through an use of social networks.
The universe of research was bordered on statistics available in science outreach Digital Skills for Family Agriculture (CoDAF) website and available in Facebook’s publishing tools, from October 2014 to July 2015.

The methodology used was a quantitative descriptive exploratory study, from the analysis of data available by AWStats tools (part of required tools for CoDAF website) and Facebook’s posts history information. It describes a daily news publication routine adopted by CoDAF, which includes the participation of CoDAF members and staff; and, combined with statistical data, proposes to:

  1. identify website users access data;
  2. quantify actions taken in a social network as a dissemination strategy;
  3. graph the data collected.

As a result, the paper presents the process of data exporting to a spreadsheet file, that contains a visual representation of publishing routine interactions with social networks and visits quantified by CoDAF of the website in its statistics.

It was concluded that emerge of this data can assist in process of making more explicit characteristics inherent on effectiveness measures of dissemination strategies of science outreach project website through an use of social networks; and its results are the basis for a validation of daily news publication routine itself, mainly due to a increase in website visits.
